Get started
Ten minutes: install the app, sign in with ChatGPT, pick a browser, hand it a first job.
1. Install
Download Jigbee-*.zip from the latest release, unzip, drag to Applications. First open: right-click, Open (signed, not yet notarized). Node is needed for the built-in browser (brew install node); it is not needed if you use your Chrome.
From source, with Rust and Node installed:
git clone https://github.com/ramankrishna/jigbee && cd jigbee
cargo build --release
./desktop/build_app.sh && open desktop/Jigbee.app2. A model
Settings → Continue with ChatGPT. jigbee runs on your Plus or Pro plan; nothing else to pay for. The sign-in is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/jigbee/auth and refreshed by the app. You can use your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) instead.
3. A browser
Two choices, and you can switch any time:
- Your Chrome (recommended): jobs run in a window of your own Chrome, signed in as you. Pair the extension.
- Built-in: a private Chromium with no logins, downloaded once from Settings. Good for public sites and for trying things out.
4. A first job
Type it plainly. Some that work well on day one:
- Open https://news.ycombinator.com and tell me the top 3 stories, with links.
- Find the two cheapest nonstop flights CLT to SFO on the 15th of next month on Google Flights. Don't book anything.
- Open my Gmail and tell me the subjects of the three newest emails. (Chrome)
Watch the steps in the live panel, or close the window: the menu bar shows what is running and tells you when it is done or needs you.
What to expect
The first time it does a kind of job it explores. It writes down the way that worked, so the second time starts from a plan. The reply carries the result; a report file sits under it for anything long; Run again repeats the job with what it learned.
